The fishing equipment, choose well to better succeed the opening

The opening is coming. Your flies are put away, your leaders mounted, your hooks sharpened... But have you thought about your outfit? Often neglected, the outfit will be an integral part of your success on D-day. We will therefore advise you from head to toe. Here are a few tips on fishing equipment to make the opening a success!

The upper body

  • Cap

  • The cap is essential for the fishing equipment:

It should be light, breathable and quick drying. The visor should be long enough (about 9cm) to protect the face from the sun. A black anti-reflective fabric under the visor improves visibility. An inner mesh headband is essential to improve comfort and absorb perspiration. Finally, it must be adjustable to best fit your body type. A (small) plus: try to put it in your pocket.

  • Glasses :

Polarizing with interchangeable lenses. They will allow you to identify fish whatever the weather. Choose lightweight glasses for better comfort. Also, make sure they cover your vision well. A strap to put them around your neck will prevent the river from taking them from you... Finally, don't forget to protect and clean them regularly.

  • Necklace:

Essential but not indispensable. The neckband will protect you from the sun and the cold. It can also protect your face from fly backs in strong winds...

  • T-shirt:

Long sleeves and breathable. The last point is important because the first layer must absorb perspiration and dry quickly. It happens to be hot when we walk a lot. A wet T-shirt is the best way to catch a cold.

  • Sweater:

Micro fleece type, warm and breathable. We chose a model with integrated gloves, really good when it is cold. For greater comfort, the inflatable thermal vest will regulate your temperature and allow you to float in case of a fall.

  • Jacket:

We use a breathable rain jacket. It cuts the wind while keeping the heat and protects from possible showers. You don't need a warm jacket, you need something light, waterproof (minimum 20,000mm), breathable and functional (lots of pockets).

  • Fishing vest:

Made of waterproof and breathable fabric with many pockets adapted to your boxes. It must be comfortable and functional (landing net and pliers hook, waterproof pocket, zingers...).

  •  Chestpack:

Complementary or substitutable to the fishing vest, the chestpack must have a waterproof and solid fabric, a large pocket for your tackle box and a smaller pocket for your flies. The strap around the neck must be reinforced to avoid chafing and have a hook for your landing net.

    The lower body

  • Pants:

We use breathable microfleece jogging pants. They are ultra comfortable and warm, really the best under the waders!

  • Socks:

Often overlooked, a good pair of warm, breathable and sturdy socks is much appreciated. Both for comfort and warmth. Choose a wool and polyester model.

  • Shoes:

Wading shoes must be robust because they are subjected to harsh tests... A tearproof fabric, a sewn sole, front and rear reinforcements are good indicators of quality. A good insole is also important, it will bring you more comfort. Finally, with age, it becomes important to be able to remove your shoes easily. So choose a model that is easy to put on and take off.

    The accessories

  • Wire cutter :

Precise with stainless steel and stainless steel blade.

  • Thread recuperator:

    Essential to protect our rivers.

  • Grease:

To allow your silks and dries to float better.

  • Wading stick:

For fishing equipment, the fishing rod is very important.

Sturdy and handy. There are collapsible sticks that you can easily put around your belt or in your bag.

  • Nails or non-slip overshoes:

To avoid slipping. Easy grip overshoes are far more effective than felt and nails. Plus, they protect your sole.

  • Fishnet:

A non-aggressive rubber net will not damage the fish or snag your hooks.

  • Clamp:

Precise and solid, choose a pair of pliers that can do everything to avoid cluttering up your work.

  • Piece of tinder:

    To dry your flies.

  1. Hello ,
I think that with the freshly arrived shoes, the vest, the shirts, the rain jacket, from your brand, I am already prepared for the next season.
Good stuff, will have to see with use...
For a next vest, I think the square chest pockets would be more appropriate, the two rings on said pockets are too big for my taste, the Napoleon pockets deserve more depth, I like to carry a store with me AH AH! The diabolical one just in case!
Thank you for your information about the delivery of the shoes, mail that puts in confidence....si rare ....
    Thanks again
    Sincerely

    1. good morning, you can reduce the size of the rings by pressing on them
and also use it to hang a pair of glasses
